WHEN THIS YOU SEE REMEMBER ME—A LOOK AT INSCRIBED QUILTS INCLUDING FRIENDSHIP, FUNDRAISIING AND ALBUM QUILTS

Explore the intentions, differences and similarities and identify characteristics of quilts that were made as tributes, tokens of friendship and memorials through a power point program followed by a trunk show of lecturer’s quilts of this genre. Students are encouraged to bring a quilt of this type to share as time allows. One hour lecture with samples of inscribed quilts. If you have an example of an inscribed quilt, you are encouraged to bring it along to lecture.

Carol Butzke is certified by the American Quilters Society as an appraiser of quilted textiles. She currently serves as an instructor and board member for the American Quilter’s Society Appraisal Certification Committee, has successfully completed the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) course on personal property appraisals and is a member of PAAQT, (the Professional Association of Appraisers—Quilted Textiles).
Carol is also a quiltmaker, teacher, lecturer, quilt collector and Judge certified by the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges. Her quilts have won numerous awards and have been published in many books and magazines. She has served on the Board of Directors of the National Quilting Association, Wisconsin Quilters, Inc., The Wisconsin Quilt History Project and currently serves on the board of the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts as Director of Collections.
