In just six hours learn how to complete a small mat! Catherine Jautz Bailey will teach you how to read a pattern, make a warp, thread a loom, choose a weft, weave an article and secure ends. You will be able to take home a completed product along with a copy of your pattern. All workshops are two students with one instructor to guarantee hands on help.
Hand weaving provides an opportunity to continue this long-standing tradition through the creation of individual unique and beautiful artwork.
Beginning Class Description: Catherine will help you to complete a small mat in a color of your choice in one lesson. You will learn to read a pattern, make a warp, thread a loom, chose a weft, weave an article, and secure ends. You will take home your work, a copy of the pattern you used, and new knowledge of the ancient art of weaving. Class fee is $120, which includes the kit fee. Class is limited to two participants. Looms, warping boards and shuttles will be provided. Kits include a needle, yarns for the warp and weft, additional patterns, note pad and weaving references to pursue. Bring scissors and your questions. Students should bring a bag lunch. Beverages will be provided.
