Hide + Seek: WMQFA’s 5th Fiber Arts Biennial
November 17, 2022–January 22, 2023
Hide + Seek showcased fifty-six artists from throughout Wisconsin whose fiber-based work responds to the theme of hide and seek. Hidden messages, obscured imagery, something revealed or concealed, a story now told, an important person brought to light, fragments of memory, are all ways these artists imaginatively addressed our call for art. Visitors were in turn encouraged to engage with the idea of “hide and seek” by finding meaning, visually or metaphorically, behind each work.
Artists featured included Colleen Ansbaugh, Bonnie Berken, Kristine Beier, Ruth Carrion, Misty Cole, Ellen Mary Cook, Jacquelyn Crema, Richard Daehnert, Ellie De Lia, Abigail Engstrand, Patrizia Ferreira, Linda Ferrell, Tricia Glaister, Barb and Bill Gover, Caleb Griswold, Josephine Gust, Nari Haig, Hannah Jenkins, Donna Karolus, Faye Junker, Julie Johnson, Joan Kennedy, Pat Kroth, Joyce Krueger, Linda Marcus, Sandra C.
