Lecture Description:

Author Judy Frater and will introduce her new book, Artisans by Design: An Odyssey of Education for Textile Artisans in India, on teaching design to traditional artisans in Kutch, India. Then she and two artisan designers featured in the book, Adil Khatri and Pachan Siju, will discuss traditions, the value of cultural heritage, their experiences of contemporary markets, and the impacts and implications of formal design education.
