Quilt & Rug Documentation Days
June 25 and 26, 2011 / 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. / Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts
Calling all quilts and the people who love them! Help us save the stories in the stitches by bringing your precious family heirlooms (or modern creations) to Documentation Days at the WMQFA’s farmstead. For just $5, we will record the history of the quilt, create a detailed description, take a digital image, and save this information in our archives.
We will include your quilt in an online database, the Quilt Index (www.quiltindex.org), where it can be accessed and studied for years to come, at no charge. Our trained volunteers can tell you when and how your antique quilt was made, and give suggestions on proper care and storage.
New this year! Members of the Cream City Rug Hooking Guild will be documenting old and new rugs, made in the traditional rug hooking style, using cut fabric strips. A record of your rug will be stored in the WMQFA library.
Documentation Days coincides with Cedarburg’s popular Strawberry Festival. You can start your day at our farmstead, where there is ample parking off Struck Lane, and take the hay wagon into downtown Cedarburg to enjoy the festivities. Don’t miss the WMQFA’s booth, where we’re selling cool beverages, sandwiches, bruschetta and more!
The museum is located at N50 W5050 Portland Road, one-half mile east of downtown Cedarburg. Our Farmhouse Gallery will be open during Strawberry Festival, featuring “Imagination Rendezvous,” a collection of Wearable Art and Wearable Arf (for woman’s best friend).

I live in Michigan, and have a number of quilts handmade by my grandmother, Anna Hamernik VanderWall of Green Bay, WI. I would like to have these documented in the Wisconsin project, but am unable to physically bring them to Cedarburg. Is there a way I can do this online?
Thanks.
