WMQFA Winter Quilt Show Challenge & Fiber Art Contest

 

Cedarburg, Wis.  – The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts presents the Winter Quilt Show on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 from 9am to 4pm at Washington County Fair Park Pavilion, 3000 Pleasant Valley Rd, West Bend. Admission is $10.00 in advance, $10 at the door (cash only). Children 12 and under are free.

In addition to over 60 vendor booths and lectures and demos, we look forward to seeing your creative genius unleashed! Submit your piece to either the Fiber Art Contest or the “Funky Fractals” Challenge.

We will accept up to 150 fiber art pieces into the show for the Fiber Art Contest. New this year, both the Fiber Art Contest and Challenge will be judged. Cash prizes of $25 first place, $15 second place, and $10 third place will be awarded for each category ($100 for Best of Show and $50 Viewer’s Choice). Categories include: Large Quilt, Lap Quilt, Small Quilt, Modern Style Quilt, Improv/Art Quilt, Youth (under 18), Miscellaneous Sewn/Quilted, Fiber Art, and Barn Quilt. Entries must have been made in the two years prior (March 2021-Feb 2023). To enter, complete the online registration form and bring/mail your entry.

 

Show us your funky side with the “Funky Fractals” Winter Quilt Show Challenge. A fractal is a never-ending pattern, even across different scales, like flowers, snowfflakes, some quilt patterns, and so much more. Get creative! Participants may use any colors, but must create a 15” diameter piece, with a minimum of 3 quilted layers and finished edges/binding. Pieces will be hung on point.  Maximum of 50 Challenge pieces.

 

You may drop off items at WMQFA, N50W5050 Portland Road, Cedarburg, from Thursday-Saturday, February 1-3, 10am-4pm. Please mail entries to: Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts, attn: Winter Quilt Show, P.O. Box 562, Cedarburg, WI 53012. Return shipping is artist’s responsibility. All entries for both the Contest and Challenge must be received by February 3, 2024. $5 entry fee for all pieces.
