Moey’s “Wisconsin Pride” Quilt

Meet Moey Anderson, our other Adult Education Coordinator for the museum. Moey is most famous around the WMQFA for engineering the design for our amazing Mariner’s Compass Donor Recognition Quilt. She also cut all the pieces, sorted them into bundles, managed the assembly by 30+ volunteers, and pieced together their work – all in just a month!!

An engineer by training, Moey works for the state of Wisconsin as a water supply engineer. She came to the US 23 years ago from Thailand, where she met her future husband while he was traveling in Asia. Somehow, he managed to lure her to Wisconsin, marry her, and keep her happy in the land of cold and snow.

Moey took up quilting only a decade ago, but quickly developed extraordinary skills. She’s even invented a technique she calls “needle-turn machine appliqué,” which she teaches at WMQFA University Days. Her latest projects are her “Wisconsin Pride” appliqué quilt, and a Baltimore Album replica made of gorgeous Thai silks.
